An installation of new work in photography and collage, ‘PASSENGERS’ (6 – 12 October 2018) will reflect diverse themes relating to the life and work of writer Muriel Spark, from her literary influences and views on ecology to Catholicism and her close personal relationships.

The only visual arts recipient of a Muriel Spark 100: Endless Different Ways Grant Award, Kristian Smith undertook an artist residency in Tuscany, Italy to make new work and develop the show which will be presented in the newly renovated gallery of the historic Custom House of Leith, Edinburgh.

The Muriel Spark 100 programme celebrates Muriel Spark as one of Scotland’s finest and most internationally respected writers. Events are taking place across the country until the end of 2018 in celebration of her work, her life and her extraordinary contribution to letters.
