SSHoP at St Andrews Photography Festival


The first St Andrews Photography Festival gets under way on 1st August with a full programme of meetings, exhibitions, activites and talks through to 11th September. SSHoP is co-hosting a number of these activities and we hope that you will be able to include these in your diary to support the festival and SSHoP

This is an open invitation to all members of the Scottish Society for the History of Photography, and those who are thinking of becoming members. We will meet in front of Martyrs Kirk before we head out on a walking tour of St Andrews led by the Photographic Collections Manager at Special Collections, Rachel Nordstrom. She will point out some of the important (photographic) spots around St Andrews.

Everyone should come wearing sturdy footwear as the walking tour will last about 1 hour. Additionally, check the weather and dress appropriately, we will be carrying on come rain or shine!

11.00-12.00: Walking tour of St Andrews
12.00-13.30: Optional lunch, reservations will be made in advance, so please do RSVP by 4 August!
13.30-16.30: Free time to take in some of the exhibitions.
16.30-17.30: Meet up and chat at the cafe in The Byre
17.30-18.30: Talk by Pete Moore on ‘Scotland’s Photographer: Robert Moyes Adam’ . Please note, the event is free, but tickets must be booked on this link.

Bring along your photographic portfolio to receive some feedback and ask questions of SSHoP’s Alex Hamilton and Robin Gillanders. Your 30 minute time slot will allow you to ask questions and work through your artistic practice. All are welcome but we especially encourage young photographers to come along and share some of their work.

Additionally, this event will be followed up with a talk by Ben Harman, Director of Stills Gallery who will discuss aspects of curating gallery shows.

Booking by email is required to secure a 30 minute time slot.
