In association with the Jill Todd Photographic Award, the Scottish Society for the History of Photography’s annual lecture welcomes Hellen van Meene, a Dutch photographic artist whose work has been exhibited frequently and internationally.
She is represented in numerous collections and publications and has released several monographs. Her subject matter is mainly (but not exclusively) portraits of adolescents, made internationally, and with remarkable intimacy, honesty and psychological tension. Aperture published a major retrospective of her work in July of this year.
Hellen lives and works in Heiloo and her subjects now include still lifes, dogs and other animals. She is represented by galleries in New York and Tokyo.
