Alicia Bruce will reflect on her ongoing photographic project about Menie, an Aberdeenshire community being ‘Trumped’ to create what was claimed would be ‘The Greatest Golf Course in the World’. Since 2010 the photographer has encountered angry security, bullying and intimidation. Photographs from the series were recently exhibited The Scottish Parliament during Scottish Environment Week and were celebrated in a Parliamentary Motion.
She will also give a preview of new photographic work made in ex-mining town Blaenavon, South Wales which is about to be exhibited at two exhibitions during Diffusion: Cardiff International Photography Festival in May 2013. Alicia describes her photographic portraits as a collaborative process and often looks to figurative painting as a starting point.
